The approach for new leaders and developing managers is largely the same with the focus being primarily on new skill development or enhancement. The coaching process will leverage the various leadership challenges being faced on the job giving leaders insights on how to work through various decisions, practice new approaches to solving problems and developing new ways to work with their teams. The goal is to improve overall leadership effectiveness, comfort and prepare leaders for the next level of leadership. The coaching approach at this stage is slightly more structured and focused on self-awareness building and learning and implementing leadership fundamentals to enhance effectiveness and improve efficiency. The coaching process that takes six months to complete.
The focus and objective at this level are to help leaders work through difficult decisions, develop new ways of thinking, and enhance overall leadership effectiveness to drive higher levels of organizational performance. Executive coaching takes approximately six months to complete but can vary slightly depending on the complexity of the challenges being faced.
The focus here is on helping leaders manage change as they are transitioning in or out of leadership roles. Leaders in transition face many challenges related to knowledge transfer, navigating and adapting to new cultural norms, and understanding people, processes and systems that may be impacted by the change. For those transitioning out, coaching helps leaders transfer the reigns and manage all the emotions that go along with letting go. It also provides leaders a safe and confidential space to think through the many decisions they may need/want to make. Transition coaching is usually shorter in duration, lasting anywhere from 3-6 months depending on the context and complexity of the transition.
