Hello, I'm Dr. Michelle Johnston and I'm currently seeking to start some research on career success and resiliency as it relates to social norming behaviors. This research project is in its infancy; therefore, I’m seeking to engage in exploratory conversations with anyone who feels they have achieved career success, despite having to overcome significant odds, of which one must be the feeling like you’ve never “fit in” with the ‘crowd.’
For example, maybe you were told early on in life that you were dumb, ugly or untalented and that you’d never be successful in life. Perhaps you were told your ideas were too strange ever to work, but you ignored what other people said and did them anyway. Or, maybe, you started out in life at a serious disadvantage from everyone else because of a lack of money, education, race, gender, or religious affiliation, and you experienced overwhelming isolation, rejection and or faced what felt like insurmountable odds and you still succeeded.
If you, or anyone you know, may fit the criteria above, please contact me. I would love to hear from you and learn more about your story. Your name and any identifying information will be kept confidential, and you will always have the ability to withdraw from the research project at any time.
